Getting access

You apply through Smarkets’ API request form with a fully verified account and pay a GBP 150 setup fee, refundable if you stop within 60 days.

Active Smarkets Account: You must have a fully registered and verified Smarkets account.

Access to the API - and any automated interactions with our platform or services - is permitted only after you have completed our API Request Form (https://support.smarkets.com/p/6MLL-PL7/api-request-form), undergone the authorisation process, and received our explicit approval. Smarkets retains full discretion to refuse access to the API at any time.

A one-time administrative setup fee of £150, or account currency equivalent, will be deducted from your account balance upon successful registration for API usage.

Should you choose to permanently withdraw from API usage within the first 60 days, your setup fee will be refunded.

API customers are ineligible for any affiliate commission offers, as well as the 60 day 0% commission offer for new customers

Limits and login

1,200 requests per 60 seconds per account across all endpoints; over that you get HTTP 429.

All API users are subject to a default rate limit of 1200 requests per 60 seconds across all endpoints, applied per account. Individual endpoints may have additional stricter limits as documented on each route below.

Get a session token using the login route: GET /v3/sessions/ Click on 'Authorize 🔓', enter your token after 'Session-Token '

Data Harvesting: Requesting high volumes of pricing data without placing a corresponding volume of bets.

What you may do with it

Only to view prices and bet on your own account; prices and market data may not be shared or sold without written approval.

The API is designed to allow authorised users to view market prices and place bets on their Smarkets account.

You may not share, sell or distribute platform data - such as prices, market status, events or business information - with third parties without written approval from Smarkets.

No. Smarkets does not accept US residents.
