Betfair referral codes, there is no Exchange one
Searches for a "Betfair referral code" mostly want one thing: a code that gets you, or a friend, something for signing up to the Betfair Exchange. We can find no evidence that Betfair runs one. What Betfair's help centre documents is a promo code for bingo and a bonus on Exchange Games, plus a commercial affiliate scheme for publishers. A poker promo-code article sat alongside them in the archive, but it is gone from the live help centre. What remains is real, and none of it is a refer-a-friend code for the Exchange. This is the same shape as Polymarket, where the codes people search for also do not exist for the product they mean.
What we looked at, and what we found
Betfair's help centre publishes an article for essentially every promotional
mechanic it operates. Searching 3,896 archived captures of
support.betfair.com from 2023 onward (a count compiled on 2026-08-27), the
promotional articles that existed are listed below. We re-checked the three that
our sources name against the live help centre on 2026-10-07.
| Article | Product | Live help centre, 7 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| "Where do I enter my promo code?" | Poker | Gone: the address now returns Betfair's "Not found" page |
| "Where do I enter my promo code?" | Bingo | Still live |
| "What is an Exchange Games bonus?" | Exchange Games | Still live |
| "How do I know if I have a bonus?" | Exchange Games | Not re-checked |
| "Can I withdraw my own money if I have a bonus on?" | Exchange Games | Not re-checked |
| "How can I redeem my welcome bonus?" | Bingo | Not re-checked |
| Casino bonus articles (several) | Casino | Not re-checked |
There is no refer-a-friend article, no Exchange promo-code article, and no Exchange welcome offer article anywhere in that set.
Read that as evidence, not proof. An absence from an archived help centre is strong, Betfair documents its other bonuses thoroughly, so an undocumented Exchange referral programme would be out of character, but it is not the same as Betfair stating "we do not run one". If you have been shown a working Exchange referral code, it is something we could not find published.
Exchange Games is not the Exchange
This is the distinction that generates most of the confusion, and it is worth being precise about because the names are nearly identical.
Exchange Games are casino-style products, roulette, card games, priced on Betfair's exchange technology. They carry bonuses, wagering rules and the usual "can I withdraw my own money if I have a bonus on?" mechanics.
The Betfair Exchange is the peer-to-peer betting market that charges commission on net winnings. It has no bonus articles at all.
A "Betfair bonus" you read about is almost certainly the first one. It does nothing on the second.
The affiliate scheme is a different thing again
Betfair operates an Affiliate Scheme, a commercial programme for websites and publishers who send it traffic, paid on the revenue those customers generate. That is not a referral code you enter at sign-up, and it does not pay an ordinary customer for introducing a friend.
If a site offers you a "Betfair referral link", it is most likely an affiliate link. That is legitimate and it may be perfectly good advice, but the reward goes to the publisher, not to you, and there is no code for you to enter.
We would say the same about our own links, which is why every one of them on this site carries a disclosure next to it.
What is actually worth having on Betfair
Since there is no sign-up code to chase, the things that genuinely reduce what you pay are structural, and they are all on the fees page:
- Commission is charged only on net winnings. A market you lose costs you nothing. On Kalshi or Polymarket a losing trade still carries its fee, that difference outweighs any welcome bonus in this category.
- My Betfair Rewards decides your rate. Whether you are opted in determines whether you pay your package rate or a Market Base Rate set by where you live. That is a setting in your account, and it is worth more than a code.
- The Discount Rate is earned and decays. Points accrue whether you win or lose, the rate recalculates every Sunday, and your balance is cut 15% each time, with a 20% cap until KYC is complete.
