How to start on Polymarket, in the US or anywhere else
In the US you use Polymarket US, a separate app and website at polymarket.us; polymarket.com blocks trading for US visitors. Outside the US, Polymarket is a crypto app: you sign in with Google, email or a wallet, and deposits become pUSD on the Polygon network.

Which Polymarket you use
In the US you use Polymarket US, a separate app and website at polymarket.us; polymarket.com blocks trading for US visitors.
Trading is blocked in the United States on polymarket.com. Switch to polymarket.us to trade prediction markets.
Please note: Polymarket.com is not accessible for US residents. US users cannot deposit funds or place trades on the website.
The US app is on iPhone and Android and on the web:
The Polymarket US app is a separate product designed specifically for users in the United States. It is available on the Apple App Store for iPhone.
Get it on Google Play -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.polymarket.android
Polymarket's own help centre still called Android “coming soon” when we checked; the store listing says otherwise.

Polymarket outside the US
Outside the US, Polymarket is a crypto app: you sign in with Google, email or a wallet, and deposits become pUSD on the Polygon network.
There are three ways to sign up for Polymarket.
pUSD (Polymarket USD) is the collateral token used for all trading on Polymarket. It's a standard ERC-20 token on Polygon, backed by USDC.
Polymarket operates on a non-custodial model. You maintain full control of your funds at all times.
The minimum deposit depends on which page you read. The help centre gives:
Note that deposits below the minimum thresholds (e.g., $20 for Ethereum, $3 for Solana) will remain pending until the cumulative amount meets the required minimum.
The docs table gives $7 for Ethereum and $2 for Polygon:
Most L2 chains (Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism) have low minimums of $2, while Ethereum deposits require $7 minimum. Bitcoin and Tron have $9 minimums due to higher bridging costs.
Some countries are blocked or close-only, and the two official lists do not agree on the count:

Placing an order
Each share costs between 0 and $1 and pays $1 if its outcome happens, so the price reads as the market’s probability.
Every share on Polymarket is priced between
$0.00and$1.00. The price represents the market's belief in the probability of that outcome occurring.
When a market is resolved, holders of winning shares receive $1 per share, losing shares become worthless, and trading of shares is no longer possible.
Both versions take market and limit orders. On Polymarket US, Yes and No are one instrument:
Every market on Polymarket US has two sides: YES and NO. They always add up to $1.00.
You can buy or sell at any point before settlement - you don't have to hold to the end
The price on screen is not always a price you can trade at:
The displayed price is the midpoint of the bid-ask spread. If the spread is wider than $0.10, the last traded price is shown instead.
What each trade costs is on Polymarket fees.
How a market resolves
Polymarket US settles by its rulebook; the international site uses UMA's oracle, where anyone can propose an answer and others can dispute it.
“Source Agency” means the Exchange. In determining the Contract Outcome for each Contract, the Exchange will reference external sources designated in the applicable Contract Terms (“Sources”).
Markets are resolved by the UMA Optimistic Oracle, a smart-contract based optimistic oracle.
If the second proposal is also disputed, the resolution escalates to UMA's DVM (Data Verification Mechanism) for a token holder vote.
