Sporttrade promo codes don't exist right now, here's why
If you are looking for a Sporttrade promo code, there isn't one, and no site offering you a code is describing something real. Sporttrade's closure notice said it stopped taking wagers on 25 May 2026, and its homepage now says it is re-entering the market soon. What it offers today is a waitlist, not a product. What almost every page covering this gets wrong is the reason. Sporttrade did not run out of money and disappear. It shut its state-licensed sportsbook down deliberately, three and a half months after applying to become a federally regulated exchange, and as of today those applications are still live.
What actually happened, in order
27 January 2026, Sporttrade filed applications with the CFTC for two registrations: a Designated Contract Market (the exchange itself, filed as Sporttrade DCM LLC) and a Derivatives Clearing Organization (the clearing house, Sporttrade DCO LLC). Both dates are from the CFTC's own filings register, not from the company.
4 February 2026, Sporttrade announced the filings publicly. That press release is no longer on its site: the address now returns Sporttrade's 404 page, so the quote below comes from our archived copy of 30 August 2026. Founder and CEO Alex Kane framed it as an upgrade rather than a retreat:
"Today marks the opening of an incredibly exciting chapter of the Sporttrade journey. The CFTC's market-based regulatory framework enables Sporttrade to provide market participants an elevated level of efficiency, transparency, and consumer protection relative to what we've been able to offer to date."
25 May 2026, the sportsbook closed, according to the notice Sporttrade put on its homepage. That notice has since been taken down and replaced, so this quote also comes from our archived copy of 30 August 2026:
"Sporttrade has exited its online sports betting markets. As of May 25, 2026, all wagering has ceased… Any remaining balances will be mailed via check to your address on file. Stay tuned for what's next!"
As of 7 October 2026, both applications remain Pending on the CFTC register. Neither has been granted, and neither has been withdrawn or denied.
Also as of 7 October 2026: the closure notice is gone. Sporttrade's homepage now reads "RE-ENTERING THE MARKET SOON", with a waitlist sign-up form and a "Talk to our team" link for institutions. The text we could read names no launch date and no states.
| Filing | Entity | CFTC status | Filed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Designated Contract Market | Sporttrade DCM LLC | Pending | 27 Jan 2026 |
| Derivatives Clearing Organization | Sporttrade DCO LLC | Pending Registration | 27 Jan 2026 |
Why the closure was a prerequisite, not a failure
According to the February press release, Sporttrade operated from 2022 as a state-licensed sports betting operator in five states: New Jersey, Colorado, Iowa, Arizona and Virginia. The release is gone from its site and its homepage lists no states, so treat that as what Sporttrade said in August. A CFTC exchange is a different animal under a different regulator, offering event contracts nationwide rather than sportsbook wagers state by state.
That is the same regulatory framework Kalshi operates under, and the one Novig's exchange, Ludlow Exchange, LLC, was designated under on 16 June 2026. Sporttrade is trying to make the crossing those two have already made.
So "what happened to Sporttrade" has an answer with a direction: it gave up a five-state sportsbook licence to pursue a federal exchange registration, and it is currently in the gap between the two, with a homepage that says it is re-entering the market soon.
If you were an Arizona or Colorado customer
Both states were among the five Sporttrade named in its February release. If you are searching for a Sporttrade Arizona or Colorado promo, you are almost certainly a former customer rather than a new one, so the useful answers are:
- Your balance was not kept. Sporttrade's closure notice said remaining balances would be "mailed via check to your address on file". That notice is no longer on its site, so we cannot confirm the process is unchanged. If your address changed since you last logged in, that is the thing to chase, and Sporttrade is the one to ask.
- There is a waitlist, not a product. The homepage now offers a waitlist form that mentions "once you go live", so the product is still off. There is no live product, no code and no offer on the page.
- Arizona sits in two stories at once. It is one of the five states Sporttrade named and one of the states in the CFTC's litigation over event contracts. A future Sporttrade exchange would land in Arizona as a federal venue, into an active dispute about exactly that. Treat any "Sporttrade is back in Arizona" claim with the register open in another tab.
What to watch, and where
The one thing that changes this page is a status change on the CFTC register. A "re-entering the market soon" banner is a statement of intent; only the register says whether Sporttrade can operate. It is public and you can check it yourself:
- DCM filings:
sirt.cftc.gov/sirt/sirt.aspx?Topic=TradingOrganizations - DCO filings:

Look for Sporttrade DCM LLC and Sporttrade DCO LLC. Pending means the application is filed and undecided. Designated or Registered would mean Sporttrade can operate, at which point promo codes become a real question rather than an imaginary one.
Sporttrade is not alone in that queue. Smarkets filed for the same pair of registrations weeks later and is also still pending, see Smarkets commission.
Where to trade in the meantime
The venues that already hold the registration Sporttrade is applying for:
| Venue | CFTC status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Kalshi | Designated; Kalshi Klear registered Aug 2024 | fees, no cap, rounds up |
| Polymarket US (QCX LLC) | Designated Jul 2025; clearing registered Dec 2024 | fees |
| Novig (Ludlow Exchange) | Designated 16 Jun 2026 | promos, free pre-game and maker fills |
That is a comparison of regulatory standing, not a recommendation. Where each is available to you is decided separately, and in some states it is being decided in court.
